As President Donald Trump shuttles from one courtroom to another to defend his liberty and property from an all-out legal blitz, his campaign continues. This week Trump campaign officials and allies offered a new vision for change. They publicly expressed a desire to push reforms in a second Trump term by seeking out “a more aggressive breed of right-wing lawyer, dispensing with traditional conservatives who they believe stymied his agenda in his first term.”
This is surely a noble goal. But the authors of this fantasy might as well have pinned their hopes for future success on Biden or Obama joining the Republican Party.
Quite simply, there are no such lawyers anymore. The few valiant MAGA attorneys who once rode into the breach have been crucified. Today, Trump’s own attorneys typically bend over backwards to avoid personally inflaming the woke judges flaying him for sport.
This absurd “aggressive right-wing lawyer” proposal floated in the New York Times, of all places, had the virtue of exposing the depth of the cultural hole in which patriots find themselves. No policy victory can stand if Trump and MAGA cannot win in court. We cannot win there without attorneys willing to fight. Yet as we’re seeing from Trump’s four indictments, his business license confiscated in New York, and his attorneys being devastated professionally and personally, that will not happen unless the current legal landscape is radically disrupted. And that means now.
A World Without MAGA Lawyers
Today, conservative lawyers who dare express their views or allegiances are approaching professional extinction. Signing up as an “aggressive right-wing lawyer,” as the greater Trump campaign urges, means buying a ticket to disbarment or worse. This is because the Left functionally controls the legal system, a result of decades of leftist aggression and self-serving betrayal by RINO leaders and associates.
My credentials on the subject? I have the unsought distinction of being the first conservative elected lawyer to be so targeted. After stopping illegal immigration in Arizona as Maricopa County Attorney and challenging the Left in a myriad of ways, I was disbarred in 2012 in a show trial that foreshadowed—and provided an early template for—what is now happening to Trump and his allies across the country. These same leftist forces tried to imprison me, as well, but I was able to fight off the Obama DOJ (two grand juries cleared me but the dishonest, politicized courts kept my law license). Thanks to Rachel Alexander, who lost her career when I lost mine, my story recently has received some attention.
At around the same time, the lawfare lynch mob went after Kansas Attorney General Phil Kline. His offense was daring to investigate Kansas abortion clinics. He was suspended from practicing law indefinitely but not formally disbarred. Kline avoided the final, latter indignity; unlike me he did not openly challenge and expose a rotten judiciary, which controls all law licenses and bristles at criticism. Regardless, back then we were outliers and were largely ignored.
In the 2024 elections, let’s start by focusing on the only issue that really matters anymore: beating back the woke horde that effectively controls everything through the courts.
Having succeeded in these proving grounds, an emboldened Left moved on for fresh prey. Now, their ambitions are boundless. Any lawyer who seeks to defend MAGA-aligned causes literally risks disbarment, economic sanctions and prison. Indeed, the joke on the Left is that “MAGA” stands for “Making Attorneys Get Attorneys.”
The star-studded roster of destroyed MAGA attorneys reads like a Federalist Society symposium lineup from just a few years ago. No less than Rudy Giuliani lacks the funds to pay his attorneys, and is selling off his assets to pay his back taxes and finance some defense of his liberty and law license. Constitutional scholar John Eastman faces disbarment from a partisan judge and system in California as well as criminal charges in Georgia. Stalwart Sidney Powell took a plea bargain to end her criminal ordeal in Georgia, later complaining (correctly) of being a victim of legalized extortion. So did one of my fellow Harvard Law alumni, Kenneth Chesebro. For serving his country in the Trump administration, he ended up nearly going to prison on bogus racketeering charges. (In contrast, when conservative prosecutors bring RICO charges against Democrat and RINO scum, they lose their legal careers.) Tough-talking Jenna Ellis quickly copped a disciplinary settlement in Colorado to avoid challenges to her law license; a few months later she similarly rushed to take a criminal plea deal in Georgia, spouting self-serving Christian platitudes all the way.
Attorneys who merely dared to question the 2020 election results and procedures in court almost uniformly have been financially sanctioned, referred for bar disciplinary charges, and generally marginalized and pummeled. This includes Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, who was sanctioned by the courts in my former state of Arizona.
The Only Issue That Really Matters Now
In the 1960s and 1970s, when public sentiment swelled to protect species nearing extinction, Americans passed the Endangered Species Act and other laws. At a minimum—and frankly as a political Hail Mary—patriots must do the same for conservative lawyers. We can live without the snail darter. We can’t live with a legal system corrupted to target the Trump half of the country, whose members can’t even find loyal and uncompromised counsel.
In the 2024 elections, let’s agree to focus on the only issue that really matters anymore: beating back the woke horde that effectively controls everything through the courts. Immigration, crime, education, religious liberties—all of these issues are meaningless distractions if Republicans can’t win elections and then win in court. For that matter, we can’t win elections anymore if we can’t win in court after the votes are (supposedly) counted.
Indeed, the joke on the Left is that “MAGA” stands for “Making Attorneys Get Attorneys.”
Nothing will change until GOP voters insist that Republican leaders at all levels focus, to the exclusion of all else, on legal reform until it is accomplished. Here I mean real legal reform, not tort reform or other side issues to benefit corporate donors bankrolling the Heritage Foundation, Conservative Inc. and most Republican politicians. We’re talking about basic reforms to ensure nothing less than equal justice under law. Cleaning out the fetid, Marxist-inspired law schools, bar associations, and judicial benches that have built a regime of would-be slavery for patriots must be paramount.
If Trump’s four indictments and business-license confiscation and the annihilation of conservative lawyers haven’t proven how dire our situation is, what will? Being herded onto cattle cars by order of the same legal system now tormenting Trump?
It may already be too late. But if we can’t find the voter self-discipline to focus on this one task, stick to it, throw out the cowardly and self-serving GOP incumbents who try to change the subject next year, and defeat the screeching evil we face, we will ultimately have no one else to blame and will have fully earned our chains.
Heartbreaking truth, sir, most accurate analysis of lack of conservative lawyers;reasons they are suffering for trying to preserve Constitution & equal justice under laws;that no longer are enforced.Thank you and may God bless and strengthen you and courageous folks like Jonathan Turley and Alan Dershowitz.
